The North Vancouver craft distillery earned three prestigious medals for its rare Lost Horizon Rare Tea Gin and the soon-to-be-released Ember BC Pine Smoked Gin at a blind tasting competition in London.

North Vancouver’s vibrant craft spirits scene just received a major gold infusion. Copperpenny Distilling Co. has achieved a remarkable feat by winning an unprecedented triple gold at The Spirits Business Global Gin Masters 2025 in London, England. This prestigious blind-tasting competition, viewed as one of the world’s most highly regarded, recognized the distillery’s deep commitment to innovative, world-class spirits.
The impressive haul included a hat-trick of medals, with two going to their globally-inspired Lost Horizon Rare Tea Gin, securing Gold in both the Contemporary and Microdistillery Rounds. The third medal was claimed by their newest, and yet-to-be-released spirit, Ember BC Pine Smoked Gin.
Lost Horizon is already a celebrated spirit, having previously won Gold in the Contemporary Gin category at the Artisan Distillers Canada 2025 Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition. This beautifully contemporary dry gin is a true expression of “pure alchemy,” characterized by a rare loose leaf Ceylon tea as the leading botanical. The tea imparts elegant notes of orange blossom and vanilla, while its tannins deliver a beautiful, rich brown hue and complex body, resulting in a flavour that is at turns elegantly dry, luxurious, and exotic.
Securing the third gold, Ember BC Pine Smoked Gin offers a dramatic contrast. Born from the wild mountains and coastal forests of British Columbia, Ember captures the terroir and true soul of a West Coast winter. It is made with select B.C. wheat and a thoughtful blend of locally foraged and European juniper. Crucially, each batch is emboldened with gentle smoke from coastal pine wood. On the nose, it whispers of campfire on cool mountain air, offering hints of pine needles and crushed juniper. Smoky like a mezcal and structured like a peated scotch, yet unmistakably a gin, Ember features a seductive warmth that lingers on the finish. Fans of unique spirits can look forward to its official launch in early 2026.
This triple-gold success follows Copperpenny’s earlier win this year for its No. 005 Social Gin, which was singled out for the Gold-medal spot as Canada’s Best Contemporary Style Gin at the 2025 World Gin Awards. Since 2021, Copperpenny Distilling Co. has been driven by an insatiable desire to explore global flavours, producing grain-to-glass spirits that continually inspire and challenge the senses. With awards stacking up, it’s clear that this North Vancouver distillery is leading the charge in redefining the Canadian craft spirits landscape.
