B.C. distilleries are keeping your spirits up

B.C. distilleries are answering the call during Covid-19 by providing delicious artisan spirits as well as hand sanitizer to our communities

In these surreal times, it’s been extremely heartening to see an overwhelming number of BC distilleries find innovative ways to help the most vulnerable in their surrounding communities. News of distilleries producing and distributing sanitizer to the those on the front lines of this pandemic broke last week with a growing number of producers (including some breweries and wineries) quickly following suit. Over the weekend, the B.C. government further validated these efforts by granting temporary permission to all distillers to produce and distribute alternative products as long as they meet certain federal regulatory requirements; primarily that they contain a sufficient amount of alcohol to kill the virus.

Surely, it’s a role many distilleries never envisioned they would fill, but, in this new reality, it’s inspiring to see how communities are able to come together in trying times, with other local businesses generously donating bottles and essential ingredients to the cause.

While many distillers have shifted their production to focus on producing hand sanitizer for the time being being, many are still selling their products online. Here we’ve compiled an evolving list of B.C. distilleries that are helping keep your spirits up during these trying times with delivery services and online bottle shops.

In the best interest of your safety and that of the Resurrection team, we’ve made the decision to close our doors until a time that we see best fit to operate given all the circumstances surrounding COVID-19. Balancing how to care for our staff and the community around us has been a challenge for everyone in this industry, but we know that we’ve made the right choice in closing our doors for the time being. . In the meantime we hope you support us on the retail front and use some of our award winning products for all your at-home cocktail mixing. Tag us and send over some pictures of you enjoying some beverages, as we’re going to miss seeing everyone’s faces over the next few weeks. . Also, don’t forget to support local wherever you can, there are dozens of amazing distilleries in our beautiful province, along with some amazing breweries and world-class wineries. Consider the fact they’re much less set-up than the big-boys in the world of alcohol production/distribution and will certainly need any boost they can get, even if it’s just posting a picture online every little bit helps. . Until we see you again down on Franklin, remember to be kind to one another and we can’t wait to see what everyone accomplished during their self-isolation time. . Cheers, and stay safe out there

It sucks out there right now. In addition to social distancing and hand washing, sanitizing can really help to protect ourselves and vulnerable members of our community. Hoarding hurts everyone. To try and do a little good, Wayward has ramped up production of hand sanitizer and spray sanitizer and will start distributing them to people and organizations in need for free tomorrow. Priority will go to First Responders, medical staff and charitable organizations who are in need, followed by individuals and families that are unable to purchase sanitzer (see hoarding fucking sucks ⬆️) Hand Sanitizer is prebottled and (owing to shortages in Aloe Vera gel) in very limited quantities to start. Most of our initial production will go to first responders and organizations, with smaller bottles for individuals hopefully available by the weekend. Spray Sanitizer is in bulk and intended primarily for surfaces. Bring in your own spritzing container and we will fill it (upto 250ml for individuals, no limit for First Responders or health workers) We implore you to remember that you are part of your community in times like these. If you don’t need it, don’t stockpile it. Check in on your neighbours. Stay home if you feel sick and practice good hygiene. And please remember that social distancing doesn’t mean buy everything on Amazon. Without your support many of the local business that you love will not make it through this. Please reach out via DM or email if your organization could use some 🙂 #stopcovoid19 #fuckcovid19 #sanitizer #freesanitizer #comoxvalley #washyourhands #beeunruly

Many private liquor stores, such as Coal Harbour Liquor Store, Legacy Liquor Store in Vancouver, and Cascadia Liquor Store in Victoria remain open at this time and offer delivery and pick up services.

Donnelly Group has also launched Quick Liquor, a delivery service with free same day delivery on orders over $25.

This list is ongoing. Please let us know what your favourite local distillery is doing to help keep you well supplied! #shoplocal
